The easiest snorkel on the south side: reef right off the sand at the north end, calm most mornings, lifeguard-free but sheltered. Starting point of the Wailea Beach Path.
No booking, free. Public beach-access lot on Wailea Alanui Drive, with restrooms and showers; fills by mid-morning, so arrive early.
Best before 10am, when the lot is still open and the water is glassy. Skip on a south swell.
