0.8-mile round trip to the 762-foot summit of an extinct volcanic crater. Iconic 360° views of Waikiki and the Ko'olau Range. Steep interior concrete staircase — bring water. Best done at sunrise before the heat.
Timed-entry reservations at gostateparks.hawaii.gov; $5/person. Parking fills by 7am — take TheBus or walk from Waikiki (1.5 miles). Gates open at 6am. Reserve the entry 30 days ahead; arrive within the 10:00–10:30 window with the QR code.
Go early morning before midday heat. Rain makes summit trail slippery.
