Hawaiian green sea turtles (honu) regularly haul out on this beach to bask — the most reliable turtle-spotting beach on Oahu and often the only place visitors see turtles on land. Stay behind the rope barrier; federal law requires 10 feet minimum from a resting sea turtle. Best viewing late morning when turtles come ashore to warm up. A 30-minute stop that consistently ranks as a trip highlight for families.
No booking required. Free. Located on Kamehameha Hwy between Haleiwa and Waimea Bay. Small roadside parking — arrive early or street park. Ocean Safety volunteers are usually present.
Turtles present year-round but more reliable in calm weather. Do not enter the water near resting turtles.
