Haʻikū

The traditional first stop on the Road to Hana — a short, easy walk through fruit trees and bamboo to multiple tiered waterfalls with actual swimmable pools (unlike most waterfalls on the Hana route, which prohibit swimming). It is somewhat commercialized — there are smoothie stands — but the falls and pools are genuinely beautiful and refreshing. Keep it to 60–90 minutes or it derails the timing for the rest of the day. Also works as a standalone hike from Paia for anyone who wants a quick nature experience without doing the full Road to Hana.
